Your Assessment Journey

A clear, structured path to understanding your brain. From your first enquiry through to diagnosis and beyond, we guide you every step of the way.

Step by Step

The full diagnosis journey

Our assessment process is thorough, evidence-based, and designed to be as straightforward as possible.

1

Initial Enquiry

Your journey starts here. Book your assessment online — no GP referral is needed to get started. We will confirm your appointment and send you everything you need to prepare.

  • Book online at a time that suits you
  • No referral required to enquire or book
  • Choose a telehealth appointment that fits your schedule
  • Confirmation and preparation details sent to your email
2

Pre-Assessment Questionnaires

Before your appointment, we will send you a set of validated screening tools via email. These questionnaires help our clinicians build a comprehensive picture of your experiences before the session.

  • Validated ADHD screening instruments (e.g. ASRS, WURS)
  • Background and developmental history forms
  • Mood and wellbeing screening measures
  • Complete at your own pace from home
3

Clinical Assessment

The core of the process: a comprehensive telehealth session lasting 45 to 60 minutes with an ADHD-specialised clinician. This is a collaborative conversation, not a test — we want to understand your unique experience.

  • Conducted via secure video call (telehealth)
  • In-depth clinical interview covering current symptoms and daily functioning
  • Detailed symptom history from childhood through to adulthood
  • Exploration of co-occurring conditions (anxiety, depression, etc.)
  • Review of your pre-assessment questionnaire responses
  • Collateral information considered where available
4

Diagnosis & Report

Following your assessment, your clinician prepares a detailed clinical report. This document outlines the assessment findings, provides a formal diagnosis if applicable, and includes personalised treatment recommendations.

  • Comprehensive written clinical report
  • Formal ADHD diagnosis (if criteria are met)
  • Identification of ADHD presentation type (inattentive, hyperactive-impulsive, or combined)
  • Personalised treatment and management recommendations
  • Report suitable for GPs, psychiatrists, and other health professionals
5

Follow-Up Consultation

All first-time assessments require a follow-up consultation (15 to 30 minutes). This is where your clinician delivers your results and ensures you have a clear plan for what comes next.

  • Review and discuss your assessment results in detail
  • Receive your detailed diagnostic report
  • Explore treatment options including therapy, coaching, and lifestyle strategies
  • Medication options discussed and prescribed if appropriate
  • Guidance on workplace accommodations and support services
Be Prepared

What to bring to your assessment

Having these items ready helps your clinician build the most accurate picture of your experiences. Do not worry if you cannot gather everything — bring what you can.

Preparation Checklist

  • School reports: Primary and secondary school reports, especially those with teacher comments about behaviour, attention, or effort. These provide valuable childhood evidence.
  • Previous medical or psychiatric reports: Any past assessments, diagnoses, or mental health reports you may have received.
  • Photo identification: A valid form of ID such as a driver licence, passport, or Medicare card for identity verification.
  • Current medications list: A complete list of all medications and supplements you are currently taking, including dosages.
  • Collateral informant: Ideally, someone who knew you as a child (a parent, older sibling, or long-term family friend) who can provide observations about your behaviour growing up. They may be asked to complete a brief questionnaire or join part of the session.
Funding & Rebates

Medicare and rebate information

We want to make ADHD assessment as accessible as possible. Here is how Medicare can help with the cost.

GP Mental Health Care Plan

To access Medicare rebates for your ADHD assessment, you will need a Mental Health Care Plan (also known as a Mental Health Treatment Plan) from your GP. This is a standard process and your GP can arrange it during a regular appointment.

  • Ask your GP for a Mental Health Care Plan referencing ADHD assessment
  • Your GP will provide a referral to our practice as part of the plan
  • Medicare rebates may apply — see our Pricing page for details
  • The rebate reduces your out-of-pocket cost — see our Pricing page for current fee and rebate details
  • You do not need a referral to make an initial enquiry or book, but a referral is required to claim the Medicare rebate

Please note: Medicare rebates are subject to eligibility and current government schedules. We recommend confirming your rebate entitlements with your GP or Medicare directly.

What to Expect

Duration and format

Everything you need to know about how your assessment is delivered.

45 to 60 minutes

Your initial clinical assessment session typically runs for 45 to 60 minutes. We allow ample time so you never feel rushed — your clinician will work at your pace.

100% telehealth

All sessions are conducted via secure video call. Attend from the comfort of your home or any private space with a stable internet connection. Available to clients across all Australian states and territories.

Detailed clinical report

Your report is typically delivered within 5 to 10 business days following your assessment. It is a comprehensive document suitable for sharing with your GP, psychiatrist, or employer.

Follow-up consultation required

All first-time assessments require both an initial and a follow-up consultation. The follow-up (15 to 30 minutes) is where your clinician walks you through your results, delivers your diagnostic report, and helps you plan your next steps.
